Baby blue inspired baby shower

Shades of blue was the inspiration for this baby shower a few weeks ago held in Mesquite.

Cake pops covered in 3 shades of blue with sugar pearls and swirls. Cake flavors: strawberry and chocolate

All ready to be delivered and set up.

Cake was inspired by a few photos the client gave me. Cake flavor was white wedding with white chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries. Entire cake was covered in white fondant and decorated with colors of brown, green and blue. Sign on top was cut from rice paper with lettering cut from gum paste.

Welcome Baby!

Virgin Valley Bulldog Grad; cleat & book

A graduation cake in the making....

I don't usually take "in-the-making" shots very often. I thought this might be a nice change.

Here is the book, covered in white fondant and lines made where the pages sit.
Cake flavor: chocolate with chocolate ganache and chocolate frosting.

Bottom of the cleat made out of gum paste and the tassel.

Of course no graduation cake is without the presence of the mascot. The bulldog paws cut out of gum paste.

Bulldog green and the book is ready to be decorated.

Now I must worn you. The cleat was made out of gum paste and was my first try. I learned a lot through my journey and will change a few of the make shift forms. Over all I was pleased...

Congratulations Dillan, good luck to you in your future endeavors!!

Dessert Bar, Individual Summer Desserts

A few weeks ago a past co-worker asked me to prepare some desserts and a small specialty cake for a client of his.

I love being creative and had purchased some individual sized containers awhile back that I have been itching to use.

The client, Piedmont Plastics, has an office in Las Vegas. I was asked to use there logo. When the group of 20 or so came in they all huddled over the cake taking pictures. In hind sight I wish I took a picture of them - it was kinda funny and  special all at the same time.

Cake flavor: vanilla almond with white chocolate mousse and fresh raspberries.

Raspberry brownie trifle

Lemon Meringue Tarts

Strawberry Shortcake Trifle

And lastly Apple Caramel Crumble

It's been a long time since my last post....I really need to hire someone to do this for me on a regular basis.

Between dessert bars, catering (small & large), graduation and weddings it seems like I haven't a spare minute to breath. I'm not complaining at all, just wish I was better at posting.

Here are a few collages of past jobs.

Top: Luncheon catered at The Pioneer center in SunCity Mesquite. A variety of sandwiches, fruit salad, pasta salad, ice tea & lemonade and dessert bars

Bottom left to right: Zebra print 13th birthday; two baby grand piano's for a wedding in Zion National Park and cake pops for a baby shower.

The complete set-up.....

Below: Pistachio Almond Baklava

Below:  Salted Caramel Macarons

Below:  Tiramisu Shooters

And last but not least.......Strawberry Shortcake Shots

I also made fruit & herb infused waters to go along with all the sweets.

Lordy, Lordy Look Who's 40!

Happy Birthday Craig!!

A surprise 40th birthday party was held for Craig at his home
here in Mesquite, NV. Diana, his wife, wanted to have a small gathering
in her home with family and friends. She
contacted me and we made a plan.

I was to take care of the appetizers and drink dispensers and ofcourse the cake
and she was taking care of the other drinks, Carne Asada, hamburgers & hot dogs
 along with chips & dips.

After a few hiccups and a very nervous bride, everything went smoothly and I believe everyone
had a great time.

I also want to give a "shout out" to Pinterest for helping me create signs for the food and road way and another "Shout Out" to my husband, Jeff, for helping me get everything together and occupying Craig's time for a couple hours while we set up.

Diana, my Bestie and Craig (birthday boy) Best Half!!!

Butter Pecan Cake with Maple Cinnamon Frosting, decorated with fondant and black pearls

Half of the Appetizers, the other half on the counter along with Dispensor Drinks.

One of the first to go and the biggest hit appetizers!

Thanks to all who helped Celebrate Craig's birthday!!!

Cristina & Terry Wedding Cake

Terry & Cristina's wedding and reception was held at
located in St. George, Utah on March 8th.

After a few sketches the couple decided on combining two designs and making one of there own. Silk flowers in Burnt Orange, Navy Blue & white were provided by the couple along with a few butterflies.

Cake flavors were Chocolate Cake with fresh raspberries, Cardamon Carrot and Red Velvet all covered with buttercream and covered in fondant. Two teirs were treated with a lace fondant border and the other two were decorated with a lattice design and silver dragees.

Due to Wind, Rain and Sleet the couple had to change the outside wedding to inside.....which I understand is "Good Luck" on your wedding day. Its been the case for me so I hope its the case for this lovely couple. I am looking forward to getting a few shots from the photographer of the set up and maybe the happy couple!

Elley turns 1!

A small gathering was held at Elley's house here in Mesquite, NV to celebrate her fist year of life. Since its definately spring here and she is a little girl, Pink & lavendar was in order.

Cake flavor was lemon-lemon and strawberry shortcake covered in vanilla buttercream and stenciled with lavendar icing. Little pink fondant flowers were attached and a funky lettering of the birthday girls name.

Happy Birthday Elley!
